Toy Train Operating Society (TTOS)
The Toy Train Operating Society is a fraternal organization dedicated to the operating and collecting of toy trains of all makes and eras. Founded in 1966, TTOS has members organized geographically into divisions that have regular meets throughout the United States.
Each year in August TTOS presents a national convention, which is usually sponsored by a local TTOS division. Each convention features a wide variety of toy train layouts, railroad-related tours, train rides, and other interesting tours. Each convention starts with a welcoming party where old friends meet again and new friendships are made and includes a trading hall filled with toy train items, fabulous auctions, and a grand banquet.
Since "Operating" is our middle name, members frequently run their trains on layouts at malls, in hospitals and at other locations. Other members have layouts in their homes that they share with friends, school children and others who are interested.
The Toy Train Operating Society offers wonderful opportunities to share your collection with other members, and at the same time to expand it through train shows, auctions, swapping, division meets and conventions.
TTOS is proud to announce our 2013 Convention cars commemorating our 2013 National Convention in Reno, Nevada, July 7-13 2013. The cars are Sierra Railroad Company boxcars decorated with a full color, authentic Sierra Beer label. The American Flyer car is a traditional S Gauge 8 3/8” boxcar with die-cast metal trucks and operating couplers, metal frame, opening doors.
The O Gauge car is a 1:48 Scale PS-1 Boxcar 11 ½” long with die-cast metal sprung trucks with operating couplers, hidden uncoupling tabs, separately applied metal underframe details, decorated box load in interior, opening 8' Youngstown-style doors.
